What Do They Do?
MIDI will usually work fine up to 15 metres. Over this, it's problematic.
These active devices transmit MIDI over long distance — 300m and beyond.
How Do I Connect Them?
- Connect a MIDI master (keyboard etc.) to the α device's MIDI input
- Add 5V DC power
- Connect a length of fully-wired CAT5 network cable (not included) from α to Ω device
- Connect a MIDI slave device (module etc.) to the Ω device's MIDI out
- The master will now trigger the slave over distance
- MIDI also works from Ω to α in the same manner, simultaneously
How Are They Powered?
- Comes with a 1m 2.1mm-to-USB lead to power from 5V USB
- A decent 5V USB iPhone-type charger, 1A or more, is ideal
- No USB? Can also use pretty much any 5V DC "wall wart" type power transformer, 2.1mm positive-tip plug
